Expected stats
Two batters can both score 30. One did it off 15 balls at the death; the other off 40 in the powerplay. Raw totals treat those the same. Expected stats do not: they measure output against what the situation itself tends to yield, so beating a hard situation counts for more than padding an easy one.
- Runs Above Expected (batting): the runs a batter scored, minus what the average batter would have scored on the balls they faced. Positive means they beat their situations.
- Runs Saved (bowling): what the average bowler would have conceded on those deliveries, minus what this bowler conceded.
- Wickets Above Expected (bowling): wickets taken, minus what those deliveries would be expected to produce.
