Report a correction
Corrections are the most useful thing you can send. Because every statistic here is derived from ball-by-ball data, fixing one delivery fixes every figure computed from it.
What happens to your report
- It is stored with a reference number. Nothing is applied automatically.
- A person checks it against the source data and the provider’s own record.
- If it is right, the correction is applied at source and every scorecard, aggregate, record and table derived from it is recomputed.
- The change is recorded with the previous value, the new value and the reason, so it is auditable afterwards.
What helps most
- The URL of the page showing the wrong figure.
- What is wrong and what it should be— “the scorecard shows 42 off 30, it was 42 off 31” is far more actionable than “the strike rate is wrong”.
- A source, if you have one, though it is not required.
Before reporting a statistic as wrong, it may be worth checking the methodology — some apparent errors are deliberate. An average shown as an em dash means the batter has never been dismissed. Bowlers’ wickets summing to less than the innings total is correct when there were run outs. A points table labelled as using generic rules is doing so because that competition’s regulations have not been configured.
