The target is one more than the total being chased: a side chasing 180 needs 181 to win, because 180 is a tie. If you enter the first innings total rather than the target, every figure will be one run optimistic.
Balls remaining come from the quota minus the legal balls already bowled. Wides and no-balls do not reduce the balls remaining, which is why a chase can have more deliveries left than the over count suggests.
